2017 was an odd year. I had a lot of laughs and successes, but a lot of grief and sadness right up until the very end. And I had adult braces. So, there’s that.
I am so excited for what 2018 will bring - The symbolism of a new year, a fresh start, and 365 new chances to make each day great and meaningful is truly so refreshing to think about.
If you follow me on social media, you probably saw that my beloved Papo passed away on December 29th. He came from a very humble beginning in his life and from that, grew a multimillion dollar business, was an inventor and an innovator, traveled the world and appreciated the beauty of different cultures, and was the funniest guy with the kindest heart. Instead of complaining about little things this year, I’m going to live as if failure weren’t possible, and to just “go for it”, like Papo always did.
I think you can learn a lot in grief and death, and if you don’t, it’s a disservice to the life that person lived. Looking back on 2017 and all that it held makes me realize that I let a lot of silly things get me down, and, keep me down. That’s the key - it’s okay to be sad about things, but let it serve you as a lesson to grow from rather than an ending point. That’s no way to live!
This year, my wish for you (and for me!) is to live with intention, to not let life pass you by while you scroll through your smart phone, and to live BIG!!! And... laugh a lot! Like, a lot a lot.
Happy New Year! Let’s live big!
